Happy Fourth of July!

This is a special holiday for me because it is also my "baby" brother's birthday! 

I take full credit for him being born on the Fourth.  After all, I fell out of bed the morning he was born and cracked my chin open.  We went to the emergency room for stitches and came home with a baby. At one point, my mom was getting stitches and I, at 4-1/2, was having a baby! For many years, maybe even today, my brother has thought that the whole country is celebrating his birthday!

I love all of the patriotic festivities that happen this weekend. From parades to neighborhood barbecues and block parties to fireworks shows, it brings us all together. I am a proud daughter of a veteran and am thankful for the many freedoms I am able to express at the expense of so many others. We truly live in a great nation that we can have so many different opinions and not live in fear for expressing them.

Have a safe and happy holiday and remember why we celebrate Independence Day.
